Captain Sir Tom Moore was welcomed as an Honorary Member of the Guild of Freemen of the City of London in an online ceremony this morning (3 June).

A message of congratulations from HRH The Princess Royal, Centenary Master of the Guild, was read to the centenarian, who raised more than £32 million. It said: “Your extraordinary fundraising achievements embody the Guild’s aims of fellowship and benevolence. At this time of adversity, you have proved an inspiration and a symbol of hope for the future, reflected in your own words: ‘Tomorrow will be a good day’. “

Captain Sir Tom Moore said: “I am extremely honoured to be admitted as an Honorary Member of the Guild of Freemen of the City of London. I remain humbled by the love and gratitude that I have received from the British public and am delighted to accept this award from the Guild of Freemen.”

Captain Sir Tom’s daughter, Hannah Ingram-Moore, accompanied him at the ceremony, which was conducted by the Guild’s Master, Ann-Marie Jefferys, with Alderman Sir David Wootton (Past Master and Past Lord Mayor of the City of London) and Christine Cook, the Guild’s Clerk.
