This event has passed

The King’s Chapel of the Savoy is a Chapel Royal and the chapel of His Majesty the King in right of his Duchy of Lancaster, and the Chaplain is appointed by The King.

The chapel stands on an area of land given by King Henry III in 1246 to Count Peter of Savoy (uncle to the King’s wife, Queen Eleanor) the name of whose homeland has become indelibly associated with this piece of land between London and Westminster.  Thereafter it became the property of successive earls and dukes of Lancaster.

During the reign of King Henry VII a hospital was built on nearby land, which had three chapels, today's is the only one remaining.

On the occasion of his Coronation in 1937 King George VI commanded that the chapel should become the Chapel of the Royal Victorian Order. Membership of this Order is in the personal gift of the Sovereign. By the Statutes of the Order the Chaplain is ex-officio Chaplain of the Order.

There is no charge for the service but please do apply if you would like to come so we can gauge the numbers. There will be a collection during the service and an optional reception afterwards.  Join the Master and many members of the Guild and the Guild Court at the King's Chapel of the Savoy for the Annual Service.

The Chapel, is one of London’s hidden treasures and as a private chapel of the Sovereign, enjoys a unique status and a special link with the Crown.  The ceiling of the chapel is striking in Tudor style, and the stained-glass windows are intricate and beautiful, one commemorates our late Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.  Don’t miss the chance of enjoying this magical chapel and join the Master, in this special sanctuary for our Annual Service.

The Service is free and the Reception that follows - drinks and and canapes is £45 the same price as last year.
