City of London Festival Concert & Light Supper
Tuesday 4 July 2006
Dress: Suit

Members and their guests will be invited to assemble for a glass of wine and a light supper in a nearby wine-bar before taking their places under the dome in the very centre of St Paul's Cathedral to enjoy Duke Ellington's “Mass”. This is a devotional epic, delving deep into the heart and soul of jazz, swing and gospel music. Britain's own jazz legend, Stan Tracey, recreates the music of one of his musical heroes, bringing his own vision full of imagination, wit and sheer musicality to Ellington's masterpiece. With a heady mix of classic big-band jazz, dance, soaring choir and breathtaking vocal soloists, this is sure to be an inspirational night in St Paul's Cathedral.
