Visit & Lunch - RNLI Selsey
Wednesday 4 October 2017
While the Guild's visit to RNLI Selsey is a staple of the calendar, this year members have a once in a lifetime opportunity. As some Members may be aware, RNLI Selsey has been transformed since the Guild's last visit, with significant investment in both its vessels and facilities. The visit will commence at 11.00 a.m. with The Master formally unveiling a plaque in support of the stained-glass window commemorating Vice Admiral Sir Peter Buchanan, KBE, a former Past Master of the Guild and former President of RNLI Selsey. Following this there will be a guided tour around the station's new boathouse facility before watching an exciting demonstration of its new Shannon all-weather craft including a launch and recovery. The crew will also be demonstrating their in-shore lifeboat before joining Guild members for a wholesome lunch in a nearby local hostelry. As in previous years, there is the opportunity for independent travel or to join other Guild members on the coach, which will depart from Guildhall Yard.
