Beating the Bounds - Castle Baynard Ward
Wednesday 19 May 2004
Dress: Jacket & Tie/Suit

This is a rare opportunity to take part in a truly historic ceremony. After a short service in the church of St Andrew-by-the-Wardrobe we and the rest of the congregation, which will include other organisations associated with the Parish, will be supplied with staves and will Beat the Bounds of the Western side of the Parish. We will be led by a detachment of Pikemen and Musketeers, Yeoman Warders and the choir. An address on the historic links will be given at strategic boundary points, including Playhouse Yard and Apothecaries' Hall. If there is a boundary dispute (the neighbouring Parish will be carrying out their historic rite at the same time) it will be resolved after due consideration. The assembled company will then nominate a Pub of the Parish and take refreshment. Weather permitting this will be a fun evening and on conclusion we will retire for a good meal, with wine and ale, in a nearby Wine Bar. Once again it is hoped to raise a little money for the Benevolent Fund as a result of this event. With this in mind, the sum of £4.00 will be added to the advertised ticket price; those who would prefer not to contribute or who would like to contribute a different amount are asked to adjust the amount they pay accordingly.
