Visit & Lunch - The Geffrye Museum
Monday 12 September 2011
Dress: Blazer / Jacket & Tie

The Geffrye Museum, situated in Shoreditch (adjacent to Hoxton overground station), has been set up in a complex of restored alms houses that once belonged to the Worshipful Company of Ironmongers. The Museum explores the home over the past 400 years, with a focus on the living rooms of urban, middle-class families. This private visit, exclusive to Guild members and their guests, will be hosted by the Director of the Museum. It will start with welcoming drinks in the beautifully restored herb garden, with the gardeners on hand to enlighten those with a special interest in the plantings. Then Members and their guests will have an opportunity to stroll through the museum to the restaurant where a delicious buffet lunch will be served. After lunch there will be a further opportunity to explore the museum, with experts on hand to guide and to answer questions. As an added bonus, throughout the visit there will be opportunities for small groups to be shown round the fully restored (i.e. restored as it was originally built) 18th Century almshouse.
