Weekend Visit to Wentworth Woodhouse
Thursday 13 May 2010 - Sunday 16 May 2010
Dress: as shown in the event instructions

This fabulous weekend trip to South Yorkshire gives the Guild exclusive access to Wentworth Woodhouse, a Grade I listed country house close to Rotherham and the home of Past Master Clifford Newbold.

The house is steeped in history and has the longest country-house façade in Europe. Based at the nearby Tankersley Manor Hotel, the weekend will include a Gala Dinner in Wentworth Woodhouse and a Reception and Dinner in the prestigious Cutlers' Hall in Sheffield, the finest livery hall in the north and the home of the Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire.

During the weekend Guild members will have the opportunity to tour the magnificent house and to see the restoration work that has been carried out, and to visit the National Coalmining Museum for England.

Travel to and from South Yorkshire will be by coach from Guildhall Yard. Those wishing to make their own way to and from Tankersley Manor Hotel should notify the Clerk.

Those living in the vicinity of Wentworth Woodhouse may prefer to join the Guild's party for either one or other (or both) the major dinners on the Thursday or the Saturday or for the day visit to Wentworth Woodhouse on the Friday. Members and their guests will be most welcome. For details please read the next event details.
